RIDs have arrived!

19/11/17

Since submitting our Critical Design Review documents version 1.1 a few weeks ago, the EIRSAT-1 team has been waiting to hear feedback from the European Space Agency experts. This feedback is known as RIDs – Review Item Discrepancies. These are things that the ESA experts feel we could address or questions we could answer.

During our weekly meeting, the first batch of RIDs arrived. We gathered around the projector to have a first look.

So what are the next steps? Over the next 2 weeks, we have the opportunity to address these RIDs. Then in 2 weeks time, we will travel to the European Space Research and Technology Centre, ESTEC, for a colocation with the ESA experts and the Fly Your Satellite! team. During these meetings with the experts we will explain how we addressed the RIDs and answer any questions they may have.

This 4 day trip to ESTEC will also involve taking part in workshops and presentations to prepare us for the next steps – testing and building. We will give a 20 minute presentation to the ESA experts on our progress since we were last at ESTEC back in May, at the Selection Workshop.

Needless to say the next 2 weeks will involve a lot of hard work but we are motivated to move to the next steps in the new year. We’ll keep you updated on Twitter and our blog!
